Sometime in the fifteenth century, a nun in a German convent reportedly began biting the other sisters. Then, according to later accounts, the women she bit began biting others.

Before long, similar stories were appearing in convents across Germany, Holland, and even Rome.

This episode, Deb and I dig into the strange story of the Biting Nuns. Was it imitation, a centuries-old story growing with every retelling, or something the people of the time would have taken very seriously: demonic possession?

Five hundred years later, we may never know what really happened behind those convent walls. But one question remains.

Was the nun doing the biting, or was something else doing it through her?
