This week we got into psychic detectives and the strange relationship they’ve had with law enforcement over the years. The case that started the whole conversation was Etta Louise Smith, who told police she had seen the location of a missing woman in a vision, went looking for her, and actually found the body. The police promptly arrested Etta.
That led us into the bigger question. If psychics sometimes provide information that turns out to be right, why don’t police use them more often? And what happens when a psychic knows something about a crime the police haven’t released to the public?
We also talk about cases where psychics were very wrong, what police actually think about psychic tips, and something I hadn’t really considered before researching this episode. If you really were psychic and saw something connected to a murder, would you be willing to tell the police?
